Mayor Joy Belmonte's Best Project

The current Mayor of Quezon City Joy Belmonte certainly has her hands full. With so many projects to pursue and so many responsibilities both present and in the offing, this may be her biggest project to date...our resident "squatters' area" within our sacred subdivision.

Marvel at its absurdity.

What should have been "swatted out" of the place (a single abandoned residential lot containing several families ranging from the hundreds to probably a thousand) many years ago, thrive in this environment...a private subdivision in the heart of Quezon City and just several steps outside our front gate.

Their bakery

Gorgeous white SUV parked in front, probably collecting rent money.

Graffiti for Sitio Mabilog. A little filthy-looking.

One entrance via the main red gate.

Look at the thick orange "electrical lines" overhanging the thatched roofs. They're all illegal connections by the way but the squatters pay for their consumption, for sure!

A little sari-sari store welcomes you inside.

Councilor names from our barangay/local government
painted on their walls.

Relatively new black motorcycles line up the street just outside this squatters compound.

Where (noisy, rickety and dirty) tricycles abound. The bane of my existence in this private subdivision.

I am posting this not to embarrass or put down the office of the Mayor of QC where I reside or show disdain for their office even if I have a real aversion towards government offices/employees in general.

Rather, I am posting this to be aware of what I'm up against every goddamn time someone outside our premises "honks for Jesus" and keeps me all agitated especially when I'm downstairs eating and/or preparing for a meal, because what else could it be? Also, so as not to be blindsided by it all.
