Moais Art : Musings of a Perpetual Learner

I haven’t done a proper acrylic painting since my “fruit stand” a couple of years ago, I noticed (on my roof studio). I also noticed although it’s semi-original in terms of style and subject matter (ie, I modified on a reference picture), it also wasn’t that hot. Only semi-hot. I say this because at the very least, your creations should speak to you more than anybody else and that semi-ugly fruit stand actually made me focus on eating healthier and be more acute of the importance and presence of natural food in your diet. And what’s so bad about that? Projecting not only your ideas but your aspirations on canvas as possible manifestation for your wishes is a win . Of course! Make your art purposeful is what they say. How much more purposeful is turning your long set-aside, to-do list item as a beautifully-painted artwork and reminder for what’s important in your life? In other words, draw what you like and what you want (to take place even). Do it for you initially. Make your art h

Happy Ears-ter!

Image
Today is Easter Sunday! Not wanting to pass it up like it was an ordinary day but the beginning of the Advent Season and the end of Lent in the Christian Calendar;  I thought I'd post something special...like this cool Van Gogh Cake art I snagged somewhere on the internets . I wish I'd have a cake as beautiful as this one on my birthday. What follows by the way , is an earful of self-advice that could easily apply to Vincent as well ie, if he were still alive.   This is probably his best form of resurrection though… as icing on a cake, just   like how he would thickly apply paint on a canvas.  Alas, all I have is the Art I get and freely give and although they're not flattering all the time, they're also non-fattening.  It's N O T y e t   my birthday though. It's just a reminder of what's unspokenly in store for me come  May 20, my 60th!  Can you believe it? 00001100001000011100000011100000110001100010000011100111100011000110001100 BONUS Content: OMG. Genki means Energy!

Image
My morning first duty was hearing Sunday Mass (at the Mall)  Then came my Genki Sushi Getaway, a new Japanese Resto find, not to mention a new Japanese word! Did you know? The Japanese word “genki” ( 元気 ) means “I’m fine”, “I’m well”, or “I’m in good health”, but it can also be used to say that someone is or is doing something “lively”, “energetic”, or “with enthusiasm”.  When used in the phrase “Ogenki desu ka?” it can also be translated as “How are you?” in English. The Japanese word “ genki ” (元気) consists of  two kanji . The first one  元  (gen) means “ origin “, “ source “, “ basis “, or “ foundation “. The second kanji  気  (ki) means “ spirit “, “ mind “, “ motivation “, “ energy “, or “ mood “. When you put the meaning of both kanji together you literally get “ source of energy “. 現 (gen)  – origin, source, basis, foundation, etc. 気 (ki)  – spirit, mind, motivation, energy, mood, etc. This is a very good start to understand  what  “ genki ”  really means , because in Japanese the

3 Games Acquisti

I just bought my fave games on various platforms... Empire Warrior Tower Defense No Ads Purchase+ for the iPAD/iMAC. This game is clearly a Vietnamese (Developer’s) knock-off of the addictive, highly-rated and amusing Uruguay TD game Kingdom Rush Series but don't tell them I told you. In many ways, this one is easier to play with. As for “cheaper”,  I'm not so sure. I also have this on my Samsung Android phone, btw. It’s got many bugs though. Back to the Future Pinball Table for Zen Pinball 2 on the iMAC, the only Pinball game that will work on the MAC. I’m already enjoying this on my Switch but the iMac’s got a bigger, more suitable display not to mention its trademark Spatial Audio for the entertaining movie sound bytes. Real Boxing 2 for the Nintendo Switch, a real steal for $.50 (I bought a couple of days ago)!  I was looking for a good wrestling game but this is what I found. From the short gameplay time I’ve spent with it so far, I find it’s not that bad. It actually

Saturday Morning Collaged Featuring Director Naomi Hamaguchi Today Saturday, I didn't really exercise in the gym but ambled around SM Mall and stopped by a Final Fantasy Booth that would later make me offhandedly attend a Meet & Greet Event for Director Naomi Hamaguchi ( of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth) in the afternoon. I was able to familiarize myself with main RPG character  C l o u d a little bit on the P S 5 and even clawed a free FF tote bag prize   all while waiting for my name to be called on an ongoing hourly raffle. I just had to complete my ticket stamps first. I didn't win in the raffle but that's okay. There's still tomorrow! Then I had a hearty lunch at my go-to Japanese Resto Tsurumaru of Kake Udon, Tempura, Karaage + California Maki which fittingly had a 50% discount on selected tempura and udon dishes which I bought. After this, I headed to a nearby Starbucks and drank some Java Chip Frappuccino as my sweet dessert before heading back to the Final Fa

Ciao Febbraio!

Febbraio in a GIF Ciao Febbraio! Ciao è Ba-boo! Cougar t-shirt. Puma shoes.   I didn't even know it was a Leap Year until Feb 29 came today!  Maybe I really am a cat; born a cat and trying to dive in my own kitty litter of an endless Dune sandbox which I had the opportunity to grab in the mall yesterday. I went to the gym early so I can watch the movie Dune on its opening day unhampered by the usual swarm of mall-goers/movie viewers I anticipated would greet me.  As it turned out, only five people were watching the movie and it was the "weekday crowd"  so...  it wasn't really a problem. Anyway, because of this, I had many chances of getting fairly good selfies here and there.   As someone might say, "the early cat catches the worm" :-)  and that I definitely deftly did. I hope. The Boy and The Heron (2023)

Yesterday, I was able to drive to the mall and watch a Miyazaki Animé movie for the first time on the big screen  and I thought this would be a nice treat for me  as I have always been viewing Studio Ghibli movies with the confines  of my computer monitor at home. Since this is reportedly Miyazaki’s last movie, now 83, his swan song so to speak; it was the perfect time for me to do so. So I went to the theater expecting to go home with a happy Miyazaki Animé movie experience in tow. I wasn’t wrong. I enjoyed the movie and although I am not obliged to say why, I thought having a novel experience in life is always the best experience anyway. So I convinced myself that despite the mixed reviews I have read prior, I will enjoy the movie regardless and that I did! Certainly! Triumph over matter (or material)! Anyway, not veering off the topic, I read a little about or watched some YouTube reviews on how the movie would unfold and although many had said it really wasn’t the best Animé Featur

Grave of the Fireflies (1988)

Image
While still on the subject of Fireflies, I just watched this movie and  I can’t peel my eyes off this Studio Ghibli offering from 1988 that I recently downloaded as part of my ongoing effort to view and collect pirated Ghibli animé movies on my iMac computer, yeah, even if this movie was sad as hell. It was just so poignant and so beautifully made, it will definitely make you cry. I didn’t cry of course but that’s beside the point. The animation of both background, which is to say the Japanese countryside and foreground; the characters themselves including the bombs and planes in the distance was superb! The articulation for both Setsuko and Setai, the two siblings principal in this movie was so well executed, I thought if there ever was an award for Best Acting in Animé, I would give this to the two, particularly Setsuko, the four year old orphan who will definitely melt your heart just by watching her. She’s definitely a thing of unadulterated cuteness set in a backdrop of wartorn
