Boy in the Moon Step by Step

Image
After grounding the canvas with pure black,  I chalked in the boy and moon with only center lines  as grid marks or reference points. Decided to enlarge both boy and moon (1" all around) 'coz I have  a rather big 18" x 24" canvas with plenty of room to spare.  Painted in the moon, the fog and the stars not in that order.  Painted in the ledge. Painted in the boy and some buildings. Done. I think. Thanks once again to the genius and generosity of Cinnamon Cooney, The Art Sherpa. October 28, 2019

Still Life Fruits Step by Step

Image
Pthalo Green and Burnt Umber underpainting. 2/3 horizontal line drawn for table with kid's chalk  Sponged background of greens, browns, yellow ochres and white. Textured table too  Still Life elements chalked/blocked in.  Underpaintings of fruits and cup. Butterflies. Another 2 hrs and 45 mins to finish. A distant currant, 2 strawberries and some white leaves. Also textured the table even some more. Made the glass stem look see-through. Added dimension to foreground berries and started with the butterfly. Sprinted through the last hour and 45 minutes. Still Life Fruits are done!

Yellow Dick Hullabaloo

On October 11, 2019, I posted this Facebook concern on an infamous painting done by Richard Gomez, former UP classmate, Filipino actor and current Mayor of Ormoc City. I want to relive the memory not because I adore the painting.  I think it sucks.  I just want to make a statement about it on my blog. -------------------------------------- "I’m confused. Matinee Idol, former UP classmate and politico Richard Gomez has recently joined a Manila art exhibition and this is his prized artwork that is valued and actually sold for P196k. It’s an erect yellow penis against a black canvas with something (dots) coming out of it and painted in a rough way. I don’t know what to make of it as some FB artists think he’s using his celebrity to sell at an outrageous price while some think it’s almost groundbreaking in its message and appeal. I want to ask my friends from here and far to give me an honest assessment of it. What do you think, friends? Is it art or it is highway robbery? You do
