2020 Paintings Year Ender

Image
The time has come again when I round up my artworks for a nostalgic look of the year that passed. This 2020, I feel I have done a great deal of paintings whether they be in acrylic or watercolor. Some of them have been sold while others still have not been included...like my ballpoint pen drawings on my sketchbook and my commissioned wacky Viber stickers.  I hope whoever's reading this will enjoy my art as I have in making them.  Finally, make Art not War, man! Acrylic Paintings Set A Acrylic Paintings Set B for a total of 45 Watercolor Set A Assorted Watercolor 35 total, 7 Digital drawings and 6 Soft Pastel Paintings Once again, a collage of mostly everything I did in 2020. A special thanks to The Art Sherpa and Ginger Cook and  John Magne Lisondra for their wonderful and free paint-along YouTube tutorials. Also to my brother Aly Reyes for his Tales from the Garden photography series which he has given me the greenlight for art reproduction.

Angelina Jolie Step by Step

Image
Chalk A brown outline.  Actually, I mixed leftover green and red from yesterday's painting to create brown. A bit of trivia and saving tip: Complementary colors when mixed together create mud. Some flesh tones underpainting using alizarin crimson, yellow ochre and titanium white. Further blending of skin tones, and nose Done with the nose, the eyebrows and some eye lines. I think I've turned her into a bronze beauty. Lips using magenta and eyes with some blue. Hair-done. Painting done!  A simple portrait of Angelina Jolie aka Lara Croft, Maleficent, Salt, etc...

Super Model Big Eyes Step by Step

Image
A mostly brown acrylic outline of a female face with enlarged eyes. It's from an iconic photo of Kate Moss by Mario Testino, fyi. Made the flesh tones in a rather fully-blended mode. I used flesh, cad red, yellow ochre, a bit of burnt sienna and titanium white. This is not turning out to be expressionistic nor do I want it to at this point. The eyes have it. Done with the napthol red lips and partially hidden teeth. Painted the background turquoise and then face painted her face with the same colors. My Super Model Big Eyes painting is done.

Big Eyes Step by Step

Image
A quick chalk outline of the young subject and her pet cat. Done with the very pale background of flesh, white, yellow and a hint of blue. Done with the face, hand and deep yellow blouse.  Some underpaintings of the blue cat and a blue hair bowtie. My Margaret Keane -style painting is almost done. 4 hours spent on it. Blue cat and painting done (2 hours additional)!  I don’t know when I will be done with snagging pics from the Internet  but I’m kinda proud of this style, which I might adopt as my own.

Old Red Truck Christmas Wreath Step by Step

Image
An old red truck underpainting in cadmium red against a black canvas. Added in some grills and two headlights. Highlights for headlights and bumper. Added in a wreath and some branches. Added in some coral highlights for the truck and also for the wreath. Added in some white highlights even. Added in some snow using a household sponge plus some ultramarine snow shadows. Blocking in some red Christmas balls and bulbs or lights. I guess I'm done with the snow and with the lights. There's still a month to go before Christmas but Merry Christmas!
